HOMEOWNERS with poorly insulated properties will be given help and advice to slash their energy bills.
HeatSeekers, working in partnership with Oldham Council, tested thousands of homes in Oldham during winter using state-of-the-art thermal imaging techniques.
After reviewing the images taken, experts have identified the homes which may be lacking cavity wall or loft insulation.
Over the next few weeks, HeatSeekers surveyors will be knocking on the doors of these houses, showing residents the thermal image of their property and discussing energy-saving measures.
The scheme has been developed by the Energy Saving Partnership and is operating with the agreement of Oldham Council — with no cost to the authority.
Councillor John McCann, cabinet member for community services and housing, said: “We’re very pleased to support HeatSeekers in this innovative scheme to help homeowners save money and improve energy efficiency.
“Each will be shown a thermal image of their home to prove the extent of heat loss. All surveyors will carry a photocard, an identity pass and will have a copy of a thermal image of the house.”
Keith Hewitson, director of the Energy Saving Partnership, said: “Thermal imaging continues to help many thousands of homeowners save hundreds of pounds on their heating bills.
“And, thanks to the many grants available homeowners can see a return on their investment in a very short space of time.”
The project has teamed up with Mark Group, a domestic insulation and energy efficiency installation company.
