Two held over fatal hit and run

TWO men have been arrested following a fatal hit-and-run in Chadderton.
Andrew Ellis (40), from Hulme, died when he was hit by a silver Land Rover Freelander in Broadway, close to Hollinwood Avenue, on Saturday.
A 41-year-old man suffered leg and pelvis injuries and is in a stable condition in hospital.
The occupants of the the Land Rover are believed to have run off through St George’s Square shortly after 9.45pm.
A 19 and 20-year-old have been arrested on suspicion of death by dangerous driving, failing to stop at an accident, failing to report an accident and driving with no insurance.
They have been bailed until July 7 pending further inquiries.
