THE captain of the Star Ship Enterprise been promoted to Sir.
Sir Patrick Stewart, who shot to fame as Jean-Luc Picard in “Star Trek: The Next Generation”, was knighted by the Queen yesterday.
Sir Patrick was famously turned down by Oldham Repertory Theatre as a young, jobbing actor.
But the man from Mirfield, West Yorkshire, was welcomed back to the borough when he opened University Campus Oldham followed by its University Studios extension.
They are part of Huddersfield University of which he is chancellor.
