Patient priority is John’s mission

FOUR-YEAR deal . . . John Jesky
JOHN Jesky has spoken of his delight after signing a four-year deal to remain chairman of the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust.
Mr Jesky told of an exciting future ahead with an over-riding priority to improve patient safety and quality of care.
He said: “I am delighted to have been re-appointed as chairman of The Pennine Acute Trust for a further term in office.
“Significant progress has been made on all fronts including our large capital development projects, performance and improvements in patient safety and significant reductions in healthcare acquired infections and mortality rate.”
The trust — one of the largest in the country — runs The Royal Oldham Hospital, Fairfield General in Bury, North Manchester General, Rochdale Infirmary and services at Birch Hill.
Mr Jesky was originally appointed in June, 2006. Before this, he was a non-executive director of Greater Manchester Strategic Health Authority and chairman of its Audit Committee.
His term of office now runs to May 31, 2014, and he will be paid £23,366 a year.
He added: “The trust has an exciting future ahead with plans for new developments and improvements to our hospitals.
“It is a strong organisation consisting of a great many talented and dedicated people who provide high standards of care to our patients and their families.
“Our staff and volunteers are invaluable to our overall mission and our over-riding priority to improve patient safety and improve quality of care.”
Mr Jesky is also a Trustee of Music in Hospitals and chairman of its North-West Committee. He has a business background and for most of his career worked in the food industry at a senior level.
