Have your say on park plan
Date published: 07 June 2010
OLDHAMERS are being asked for their views on a number of mini-parks being created in the Medlock Valley.
The new play sites, or “stop-offs”, are in the Leesbrook Nature Park and on the Grotton trail cycleway, the reclaimed railway line from Oldham to Lees.
They are part of the Big Lottery-funded Adventures in Play project. Plans will be on show from today until June 21, at Lees Library, Greenacres and Springhead community centres.
Councillor Mark Alcock, Cabinet member for citizens and neighbourhoods, said: “I would urge as many citizens as possible to take part.
“This consultation exercise is so everyone has a chance to see the exciting plans the council has for the valley and so that we can listen to what people want.”
The plans can also be seen at www.oldham.gov.uk/medlock-valley-stop-offs where there is online feedback.
The scheme is one project within the council’s Adventures in Play programme, which comes from Oldham Play Partnership’s successful 2007 bid for money from the Big Lottery Fund. Individual projects within the bid also include schemes at Daisy Nook Country Park, Tandle Hill Country Park and Crompton Moor.
