THE home of a Greenacres cancer patient was burgled as she enjoyed a weekend away before undergoing gruelling chemotherapy.
Linda Meggison, of Beech Avenue, has to undergo the painful treatment at The Christie in Manchester every four weeks.
The 52-year-old, who was diagnosed with ovarian cancer two years ago, spent the weekend in Blackpool with her partner, Anthony Cook.
When she got back on Sunday afternoon, she saw the kitchen window and its frame propped up against the back wall of the house and discovered that a laptop and money had been stolen.
Linda, a mother-of-two, said: ÊI was absolutely distraught when I realised what had happened.
“I had a stroke in February and my doctor said the stress of this could trigger another attack.
"When I have chemo, it floors me for three weeks and I feel sick and exhausted.
"I only get one week a month where I feel half-normal.
"I had stayed with a friend in Blackpool before having chemo on Tuesday and we all had a really lovely time but to come home to this absolutely ruined it.
"It must have taken ages to get the window and its frame out without breaking it or making any noise so I think whoever did this knows me and knew I would be away.
"My partner has put the window back in with superglue but I am terrified of the robbers coming back and popping it out again now they know how easy it is. I canit leave the house until something is done now.
“The police said my kitchen window is old and will need replacing but I have no idea how much it will cost. I could really do without all this extra stress.”
Anyone with any information about the incident which took place some time between Friday evening and Sunday morning is asked to call police on 0161-872 5050 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800-555 111.
