Academies rebellion
Date published: 11 June 2010
A CAMPAIGN against Government legislation to allow all schools to become academies will be discussed at a meeting of the National Union of Teachers (NUT) next week.
The Oldham branch has invited all parents, school staff and governors to attend on Tuesday at the City Learning Centre, Hollinwood Avenue, Chadderton, 4.30pm.
Guest speaker will be Kevin Courtney, deputy general secretary of the NUT.
Oldham NUT believes the new legislation will see schools in Oldham removed from any local control as well as bringing chaos to the admissions system.
