WORLD CUP FEVER:
Brewery hits target with Fabio’s Gold
A real ale brewery is on to a winner after launching a barnstorming bitter to co-incide with the World Cup.
Fabio’s Gold — named after England manager Fabio Capello — is the brainchild of Greenfield Real Ale Brewery.
According to the masterminds behind the new 4.4 per cent ale, which has already set drinkers’ palates tingling, it is certain to score highly with football fans.
Pete Percival and business partner Tony Harratt are turning out the new beer at their brewery in Waterside Mills. Peter said: “Our new beer is a real treat.
Already pubs, clubs and soccer fans are showing a big interest in sampling it.It is made with a New Zealand hop, Green Bullet, and produces a light, amber bitter with a raisin back-taste.”
Said Tony Harratt:“We were determined to produce something really worthy of our national team and their manager. This definitely hits the mark.
“We decided to name the brew after Fabio — should he be passing after the World Cup, especially if we win it, we’d happily give him a pint or two!”
In addition to supplying Fabio’s Gold on draught, the brewery has produced special football-style mini-casks, marked: “Twenty-ten — the greatest ever.”
Armchair supporters can savour a pint of Fabio’s Gold from a mini-cask for £15 for 8.8 pints or 35 pints, with hand pump supplied, for £45.
