Band in plea for public backing

£10,000 prize on offer in online competition

LOCAL band The Kinetic are urging Oldhamers to get behind their battle to win a £10,000 recording session.

The quintet — vocalist Stuart Lynch, guitarists Pete and Dave Horobin, bassist Craig Oates and drummer Simon Hope — formed in 2008.

In March, 2009, the band secured a production deal with Sugarhouse Music and began to boost their fan base with gigs across the country. Earlier this year, the band entered a competition run by Samsung Mobile by uploading one of their performances.

Visitors to the website voted for their favourites and a shortlist of 36 bands were invited to perform live at various venues across the country.

These shows were recorded and uploaded to the website and music fans are now invited to vote for their favourite at www.samsung.com/uk  before Sunday.

The winning band will get the chance to record tracks in a professional studio — a prize worth £10,000.
