WORLD CUP FEVER:
OLDHAMERS are painting the town red - and white - to show their support as England takes on Algeria tomorrow (Fri).
England’s World Cup hopes are still high despite Gerrard, Rooney and co only managing a draw in their first group game against America.
Businesses, houses and cars across the borough are decked out with St George’s Cross flags and council workers have been given the green light to decorate their vehicles for the tournament.
Joy at captain Steven Gerrard’s early goal turned to despair for fans across the town when England keeper Robert Green let Clint Dempsey’s cross slip through his fingers and into the back of the net on Saturday.
But a win tonight could see Fabio Capello’s squad top the group before their last group match against Slovenia on Wednesday.
