Police crackdown pleases residents

RESIDENTS have thanked police for ridding their neighbourhood of anti-social behaviour.
Officers from the Royton and Shaw Neighbourhood Policing Team have been cracking down on problems in Tandle Hill Park, Royton, over the last six weeks, following an increase in reports from residents.
Police have monitored the buses to and from the area to identify the young people responsible and tackle any anti-social behaviour as the teenagers get off the bus.
Officers also sent letters home to parents and spoke to local residents to gather information. An off-road bike and alcohol have also been seized.
To ensure there are activities for young people to get involved in, the team has worked closely with sports development and youth services to provide football at Royton and Crompton School on Friday evenings.
As a result, there have been no further reports of anti-social behaviour and residents came along to the recent PACT (Partners and Communities Together) meeting to thank police for their hard work.
Inspector Karen Taylor said: “Listening to residents’ concerns and making sure we tackle the issues that matter most to our communities is part of our commitment to delivering the Policing Pledge.
“Anti-social behaviour was a priority issue for our residents living in the Tandle Hill area so in response we made it our priority issue. It’s lovely that the residents took the time to come along to the meeting to thank us for tackling the problem and it makes our job more worthwhile when we know that we have improved the quality of life for our residents.
“But I’d like to thank the residents for providing us with information, which has proved vital in helping us tackle the anti-social behaviour.”
