A MEETING to discuss a campaign against Oldham schools becoming academies proved successful, according to organisers.
Kevin Courtney, deputy general secretary of the National Union of Teachers, was guest speaker at the meeting on Tuesday at the City Learning Centre in Chadderton.
He spoke about the impact of the budget on teachers and discussed the implications on all schools, both primary and secondary, becoming academies.
Tony Harrison, branch secretary of Oldham NUT, said: “It was an excellent meeting which was followed by a high powered debate about the issues.
“Some practical suggestions about how to take forward the strategy were also made.”
