AN Oldham mother is aiming to bring the humble postcard into the 21st century after launching a website which gives everyone from holidaymakers to new parents the chance to send personalised greetings using their own pictures.
Clickpostcard.com allows people to design their own postcards — with everything from holiday snaps through to announcements and invites a personalised possibility.
It’s the brainchild of Louise Sever (30), from Lees, who came up with the idea after being less than impressed by the postcards of landmark views on offer in the tourist haunts while on holiday in Malaysia.
“I thought it would be much more fun if you could become the star of your own postcard scenes,” said Louise, adding: “Using the website also removes other frustrations, like repeating the same message and finding where to buy stamps.
“The site handles the print and the postage — meaning your card arrives on the doormat before you do! Plus, you don’t have to worry about getting repetitive strain injury because you have written the same message over and over.
“Do it once and you can send it to as many friends and family as you like.
“Holidays were the starting point, but I quickly realised that the same idea could be used for other messages, too.
“I’m a new mum and wanted a quick and simple way to write ‘Thank You’ cards and party invitations. What could be nicer than receiving a picture of a new baby or a child at a birthday party?
“The website takes away all the hassle and gives recipients something memorable.”
The cards cost from as little as 99p for a postcard delivered to the UK, which is often cheaper than going the traditional holiday postcard route and far less hassle too, plus there is an address book facility which means you only ever have to add family and friends’ address details once.
Louise, whose full-time job is as anti-social behaviour manager at a local authority in Merseyside, spent £20,000 and 12 months developing Clickpost card.com.
She added: “All you need is an internet connection and, in less than a minute, anyone can create their own personalised postcard featuring their own photos.
