MORE than 180 lucky children from Kingfisher Community Special School in Chadderton enjoyed a memorable day out thanks to the local rotary club.
Excited youngsters from the school, which caters for children with severe and complex needs, boarded the bus for this year’s fun-filled Kids Out Day.
Chadderton and Failsworth Rotary Club put on 18 minibuses and 2 coaches to ferry the group to a tropical butterfly house, Bouncers soft play and Heaton Park.
The team also visited Smithills Country Farm, near Bolton, where they got up close and personal with fluffy rabbits and scaly snakes.
Chairman of the club’s community service committee, Duncan Dearden, said: “The logistics of taking so many children out are tough, but it’s worth it when you see how excited they are and the joy on their faces.
“We get a great deal of enjoyment out of putting the day on and so do the kids.”
Orer the past 20 years, the club has has given 3,000 children a jam-packed day out.
