Musicians’ crescendo of talent
Date published: 29 June 2010
MUSICAL youngsters from across borough raised the roof of the Queen Elizabeth Hall at the finale of the week-long Oldham School’s Music Festival.
Bear Trees community band, Saddleworth School brass band and St Paul’s Royton African Drumming group were among the performers during the dazzling display of talent.
And the debut performance by Corpus Christi and St Augustine’s combined orchestra was a spectacular success.
More than 3,000 children took part in 113 performances throughout the week, with selected ensembles providing the concert crescendo on Friday night.
Gerard Booth, director of music for the Oldham Music Service, said; “The standards have been incredibly high all week, the children have been marvellous and the final concert always amazes the audience.”
