Wall to wall sun and fun

GLORIOUS sunshine contributed to Shaw and Crompton’s family weekend being one of the best yet.
Residents turned out in droves to the annual treat to enjoy a fairground, train rides, dance demonstrations, charity stalls and vintage cars.
Centred around the Market Place car park, the two-day event featured a host of entertainment for all the family.
Shaw and Crompton Parish Council has organised the event for around 20 years and was delighted with the success.
Councillor David Dunning, chairman of the communications and promotions committee, which put it all together, said: “It was an excellent weekend. From Saturday we had a full turnout on Market Street with children doing rock climbing, there were train rides and the fun fair was excellent.
“On Sunday we had the charity market and all the stalls did very well. There were plenty of people taking advantage of the lovely weather. The vintage car rally was excellent with more than 60 vheicles. There was a large turnout, and the weather helped with that of course, and it’s one of the best weekends we have had, if not the best.”
