Oldham Council Cabinet
LESSONS have been learned concerning the borough’s grit supply after one of the worst winters Oldham has ever seen.
Parish Councillor Ken Hulme asked cabinet members what steps were being taken to make sure the town’s roads would be able to stay open should we experience another winter like it.
Councillor John McCann, cabinet member for environment and regeneration, said that grit bins would be restocked and additional gritting vehicles have been bought but there are no plans in place to build a grit depot in Saddleworth or use the services of local farmers to help with snow-clearing duties.
