OLDHAM Council is seeking urgent answers from United Utilities over road repair works in Shaw.
Council chiefs say they had been aware sewer repair work was needed in Collinge Road and while they had approved an application for a notice to begin digging up the highway, permission hadn’t been granted to close the road. Motorists are being diverted by contractors along Market Street, Farrow Street East and Westway.
Councillor John McCann, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Environment, said: “We are urgently seeking to speak with United Utilities to clarify exactly what work they are undertaking and when it will be completed.”
