Josh calls concert tune

CONCERT performance . . . Joshua
A talented 17-year-old flautist from Oldham is set to perform a solo at Manchester’s Bridgewater Hall on Friday.
Joshua Batty began his musical career studying at the world-renowned Chetham’s School of Music in Manchester and later became principal flute with the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.
Joshua has won many competitions, most notably the Graucob Music Award 2008, both junior and senior concerto competitions at Chetham’s as well as the Halle Future Champions Gold Medal.
At the Chetham’s Symphony Orchestra concert, Joshua will perform the central work, Liebermann’s colourful concerto, originally written for Sir James Galway.
Stephen Threlfall, director of music at Chetham’s, said: “We are honoured to be performing such an outstanding and emotionally powerful piece of music at The Bridgewater Hall.”
