Station revamp is on track

PASSENGERS at Mills Hill train station will soon benefit from improved passenger security and information.
The railway station, in Chadderton, joins 10 others across Greater Manchester that will get new CCTV, help points, customer information screens and public address systems by the autumn.
Train stations in Mossley and Greenfield have already benefited from the scheme.
The improvements are being funded by the Greater Manchester Integrated Transport Authority (GMITA), Wigan’s Transport Infrastructure Fund and the Department for Transport’s Access for All Small Schemes fund.
Councillor Richard Knowles, chairman of the Capital Projects Committee, said: “These new facilities should help people to feel more secure and better informed about how their trains are running, which should make using their local train services all the more attractive.
“These are exactly the kind of facilities that people tell us they want to see at stations, so I’m pleased that we’ve been able to provide them.”
