GLOBE-TROTTING celebrity Alex the meerkat headed to the Peak District with a trio of Dr Kershaw’s volunteers who are in training for a fundraising trek along the Great Wall of China.
We’ve linked up with Dr Kershaw’s to have a summer of fun with the Royton hospice’s latest fundraising mascot.
The cuddly meerkat has been spotted in glamorous locations round the world helping to raise much-needed funds for his favourite hospice.
But he decided to enjoy the best of the British countryside with hospice volunteers Linda Bradbury, Monica Thomas and Janet Thomas as they began their training in Edale, Derbyshire.
The trio head to China in October for the five-day, 60km trek in aid of the hospice.
Both Linda and Monica have previously completed marathons for the charity and all three are hoping to raise a massive £5,000.
We hope to receive lots more photos from readers who take Alex along with them on their summer holiday trips.
You can still pick up your own mascot Alex for £7.99 from the hospice appeals office on 0161-624 9984 or from the Dr Kershaw’s charity shops in Market Street, Shaw, Royton precinct, and High Street, Lees.
Send your photographs to: pictures@oldham-chronicle.co.uk at the highest resolution you can.
It’s that simples!
