Date published: 09 July 2010
MOTORISTS faced long delays on the M60 last night after a man threatened to jump from a bridge.
Police were called to Junction 17 near Prestwich at 5.45pm after receiving reports of a man standing on the outside of the handrail.
Trained negotiators were called to the scene and officers closed the M60 in both directions causing tailbacks as far as the M61 near Bolton as well as Eccles and Rochdale.
The man fled the scene at 8pm. He was apprehended by officers who re-opened the M60 shortly after.
