Amping it up for Dr Kershaw’s
Date published: 12 July 2010
AID for Dr Kershaw’s Hospice flooded in from across the country when a music festival came to Hollinwood.
The Bowling Green Inn on Manchester Road hosted the event which saw 14 bands from up and down Britain give their time for free to raise money for the charity.
Proceeds are still being counted, but the event, “Smudfest” is expected to bring in a bumper £1,000.
Friends and family of the bands, helped to run the event, along with Bowling Green staff, and the total raised was supplemented by donations and a name card.
Gemmalea Woodward said on behalf of the band Anger Without Reason: “We chose Dr Kershaw’s because a lot of the people involved have been connected with the hospice at one time or another, and we all wanted to give something back for all the kindness people received.”
