Young athletes enjoyed their moment in the spotlight as Oldham hosted the Greater Manchester Mini Games.
Each of the 10 Greater Manchester authorities take turns to host the primary school competition and this year’s event took place at Failsworth School in Brierley Avenue.
Around 500 youngsters took to the sporting field with Oldham represented in eight disciplines by schools chosen through a series of competitions held throughout the year.
Lyndhurst Primary were chosen for basketball, St Joseph’s Primary for tag rugby and girls’ football, Hodge Clough Juniors for hockey, Kingfisher Primary for disability events, Knowsley Juniors for gymnastics and dance and Woodhouses Primary for golf.
Councillor Mark Alcock, Cabinet member for citizens and neighbourhoods, said: “Oldham Council is committed to offering all our pupils a wide range of sporting opportunities and the Greater Manchester Mini Games was a great stage for them to show off their talents.”
