DESIGNER Hasnain Iqbal with his music centre and award.
TALENTED Hasnain Iqbal‘s design skills scooped a regional award for his school.
Judges were impressed with the 16-year-old who designed and produced an eye-catching personal music system, complete with CD storage, MP3 connection, speakers, mood lighting and a desk-tidy.
Hasnain, a pupil at Hathershaw college of Technology and Sport, is predicted to get an A grade in his product design GCSE.
His work represented Hathershaw at the North-West Design and Technology Festival in Cheshire, beating nine schools to scoop the best design award.
Hathershaw product design teacher Mark Wemyss-Holden said: “Hasnain has worked really hard, I am chuffed to bits for him. He has done a fantastic job and he has done himself proud.
“The amazing thing is it took him probably about five months in class to get it finished. In the same time most pupils would have got half way through a much simpler project.”
Hasnain will study the subject at Oldham Sixth-Form College and Mr Wemyss-Holden added: “I have taught Hasnain since Year 9 and he is clearly a talented designer. He has really come out of his shell.”
