Live music sees charity make tracks

OLDHAMERS can enjoy a day of live music, circus acts and home-cooked food as they raise money for a good cause.
Footsteps to Ethiopia will take place at Jackson’s Pit in George Street on Saturday from 2pm. The event, in aid of Retrak, a charity set up in 1994 that supports street children in Africa, will feature 22 bands across two stages.
There will also be comedians, poetry readers and circus acts as well as home-made goods for sale and a barbecue.
Retrak volunteer Daniel Thackeray said: “The newest challenge Retrak wants to take on is to improve the work that can be done in Addis Ababa by developing a new drop-in centre. In order to do this, volunteers will have to fly over to get the project started.
“Retrak now has a team of 20 local volunteers, each with relevant skills to make the project work.”
