EXCELLENT . . . Ryan Shenton shows off his collection of attendance records
A SUPER student has proved the perfect pupil by not having a single day off school for the past seven years.
Ryan Shenton (11), from Spring Rise, Shaw, has notched up a perfect attendance record during his time at Rushcroft Primary School, Trent Road, Shaw.
And the Year 6 youngster is on course to collect his seventh certificate for 100 per cent attendance, one for every year since he started in reception class, as long as he attends the last week of school this week.
Ryan, who wants to be a policeman when he is older, is hoping to continue his perfect attendance record when he starts at Brook Bank Sports College, in Halifax, in September.
Proud mum Helen Shenton, a PE teacher in Halifax, said: “Ryan has never had a day off school, he is very healthy.
“He loves going to school and has such a good attitude, he never says he doesn’t want to go in.
“I work in education and I know that getting a 100 per cent attendance record is quite rare, especially for seven years.”
Both of Ryan’s parents are teachers, with dad Mark a technology teacher in Stretford.
Mrs Shenton (35) said: “Having teachers as parents helps because we understand the impact having days off has on a child’s education.
“We are very proud of him.”
