FUND-RAISING fun with a few pints for good measure raised much-needed charity cash during the High Crompton beer walk and family fun day.
More than 30 teams donned all manner of fancy dress for the annual walk, which started and finished at the North Star pub in Rushcroft Road.
From footballers and referees, to Smurfs and spotty clowns, the teams toured the Colliers Return, The Fairview, Waggon and Horses, High Crompton Conservative Club and Black Horse on Saturday, collecting buckets full of change for the charity of their choice.
Family fun was on the cards the following day, thanks to an inflatable assault course derby at St Mary’s Primary School playing fields, off Rushcroft Road. There were also stalls, entertainment, a barbecue and refreshments.
The weekend was organised by members of High Crompton Christian Men’s Fellowship who raised £2,800 for St Mary’s School and church.
Andrew Evans, fellowship chairman, said: “It was a brilliant event and people really enjoyed themselves. The weather was good, the rain held off and lots of money was raised for charity.”
