Sex crime increase

CRIME figures for Oldham have revealed an increase in sexual offences while all other types of crime are down on last year.
The British Crime Survey showed sexual offences increased by 9 per cent from 194 in 2008/09 to 211 in 2009/10. It is the only category of crime to see an increase. Robbery fell from 568 to 399, car theft dropped from 952 to 697, violent offences decreased from 3,694 to 3,202 and theft from a car from 2,416 to 1,84.
Overall recorded crime in Oldham fell by 23 per cent from 14,546 to 11,230.
Across the Greater Manchester Police Force area overall crime fell by 13 per cent in the 12-month period and by 8 per cent across England and Wales.
