Shipman probe
Date published: 19 July 2010
A documentary will examine tonight whether enough has been done to stop doctors like Harold Shipman killing patients.
BBC One’s “When Doctors Kill” (7pm) will probe the issues raised by Shipman, Britain’s most prolific mass murderer.
The Hyde GP was jailed for life in 2000 for giving diamorphine overdoses to 15 patients, but is thought to have killed at least 200 more. He hanged himself in Wakefield Prison in 2004.
A panel of experts includes Dame Janet Smith, the High Court judge who conducted the inquiry into Shipman’s killings.
