MUSICAL youngsters at St Mary’s School High Crompton played all the right notes to win a prestigious award at Oldham Music Festival.
Pupils from the school band, woodwind group and school choir took part in this year’s event run by Oldham Music Service. Judges gave the school choir a “highly commended” rating while the band and woodwind group were “commended”.
But the whole school was judged best overall and awarded the Tindale Taylor trophy for outstanding contribution to music in Oldham.
Head teacher Pamela Hartley said: “We are absolutely thrilled.
“This is the first time the school has won such a prestigious award and the children were delighted. Music runs through the heart of the school and we enter the festival every year.
“We won it for the breadth of music we offered and are already looking forward to next year.”
