Entertainers aged from 61 to 85 battled it out in Oldham’s annual Silver Stars talent contest for over-60s.
And a full-house at Oldham Coliseum saw “youngster” Peter Mellor (62), from Chadderton, crowned the champion at his first attempt for his renditions of “By The Time I Get to Phoenix” and “Sweet Caroline”.
Alan Pearce (71), of Bardsley, was second while 81-year-old Harry Ogden, from Chadderton, took third spot. The line-up featured 16 acts while organiser Maggie Hurley, from Age Concern, also gave a star turn as compere — wearing a different costume to introduce each act.
Marks were given for presentation, entertainment and originality by the judges who included Coliseum director Kevin Shaw.
