Ex-council chairman dies at 92

A former chairman of Chadderton Urban District Council has died aged 92.
Christopher Shepherd, formerly of Cinder Hill Lane, Chadderton, died last Thursday and his funeral will be held at Oldham Crematorium on Monday.
He was a widower, having lost his wife Alice and their late daughter Christine.
Mr Shepherd, a Conservative who was elected to Chadderton Council in 1960, was chairman in 1968-69.
He was also a member of Chadderton’s Twinning Committee when the town was linked to Geesthacht in West Germany, and was a former magistrate.
