FUTURE plans for Crompton Moor will be discussed at a meeting tomorrow.
Oldham Council has been looking at how best to enhance the recreational, educational and social benefits of the site, while making sure that any future plans respect the environment.
User groups and residents who have registered an interest in the developments during previous consultation exercises have been invited to the event and sent proposals for the moor’s future management.
The proposals include enhancing the footpath and bridleway network and improving marking, working to attract more wildlife, and providing better access and things to do for the whole community.
Residents are invited to attend the meeting at St George’s Primary School, George Street, Shaw, from 5.30 until 8.30pm.
Residents will be able to look at the proposals, give feedback and then agree a way forward.
Councillor Mark Alcock, cabinet member for citizens and neighbourhoods, said: “Crompton Moor is one of the borough’s real natural beauty spots and deserves to be enjoyed by as many citizens as possible.
“Over the last few years our Parks and Countryside Service has worked with stakeholders and residents and come up with proposals which will improve access to and guide management of the site, but at the same time ensure the ‘wild’ aspect that so many people find appealing is retained.
“I would urge as many people as possible to come along to the meeting so all residents can play their part in the long-term future of the moor.”
