Date published: 21 July 2010
THE countdown is on to the opening of Oldham’s new street market.
Stalls will open for business in Albion Street and Curzon Street on Friday.
Deputy council leader Jackie Stanton said: “Market stalls are an important part of what makes Oldham town centre what it is.
“By giving independent traders access to these high-quality on-street stalls the council has been able to add considerably to what Oldham town centre can offer shoppers.
“I am delighted to say that there has already been considerable interest from regular traders and also those new to Oldham who I look forward to welcoming.”
Planning consent has been granted for up to 11 stalls measuring 16ft by 8ft and 25 stalls measuring 19ft by 9ft which can be sub-divided to create 9ft by 9ft stalls.
