Oldham’s generosity in supporting Francis House Children’s Hospice, Didsbury, has led to the appointment of a full-time fundraiser for the borough.
Jemma Fitton (24) has joined the Francis House team after working for a charity involved in research into youth cancer.
Her appointment means people from Oldham will be able to work directly with a member of the fund-raising team and get additional help and support.
This is a double for Oldham as the chief executive of Francis House, the Rev David Ireland, is also minister at Oldham United Reformed Church in Union Street.
He said: “The generous and hard work of supporters in Oldham is well known to us and it’s good to know we will now be able to repay this loyalty and provide additional help with their fund-raising efforts.
“We like everyone else are feeling the pinch at the moment but it’s at times like these when we need to work harder to help those who help us”.
Francis House is a non-denominational children’s hospice which cares for children and their families from all over the North-West region.
More than half of the referrals are from Asian families and the charity provides respite care for parents, brothers and sisters as well as caring for the child with a life limiting illness.
Jemma can be contacted through jemma.fitton@francishouse.org.uk or on 0161-443 2200.
She is keen to meet people and businesses interested in supporting the charity.
