GOLF: CROMPTON and Royton captain Keith Banham is leading after the first round of his own competition!

The Captain’s Prize first round was held at the club last weekend and Banham - who is not allowed to scoop the main prize, but can take first-round honours - topped the scoring charts with 83-19-64.

Next was Jason Webster (73-8-65), followed by Brian Howarth (79-12-67), who won a card play-off against Steve Sharrock and Paul King.

The second and final round takes place on Saturday, while the club championship will be held on the following day.

BROOKDALE and Houldsworth will contest the Oldham and District Rabbits League cup final at Fairfield on August 3.

The latter won the dress rehearsal at Brookdale, clinching the league match 6-2.
