Website proving a big hit

AN Oldham Council website revealing what’s good about the borough is proving a big success.
Since the launch of www.visitoldham.com in February more than 55,000 pages have been viewed by visitors, and the council says the number of visitors is rising every month, with a 6.4 per cent increase from May to June.
The website covers art, culture, history or nature activities such as group walks, gardening and children’s environmental clubs and accommodation.
New additions include a gardening section and Pennine Bridleway page.
Councillor Kay Knox, Cabinet member for leisure, culture, heritage and tourism services, said: “Visitoldham.com provides the council with a fantastic opportunity to promote all parts of the borough as a place to come and visit.
“Residents can also log on to find out what is happening and what attractions are all around them. Popular searches have included information on the Saddleworth Folk Festival and the ‘Yanks are Back’ event.
“Oldham has lots to offer, whatever your budget, and I would urge anyone who wants to enjoy what is on offer to log on and explore the website.”
