Drug man’s bitter pill

A LITTLEMOOR man who was caught with what he thought were 170 Ecstasy tablets at a Welsh music festival has been jailed for 15 months.

Daniel Pollard, of Littlemoor Lane, was picked up by sniffer dogs at the entrance to Wakestock in Pwllheli in July, 2009.

The 26-year-old claimed the drugs — which he thought were Ecstasy but turned out not to be controlled drugs — were for his personal use.

He admitted attempting to supply.

At Mold Crown Court, Judge Niclas Parry said he took into account Pollard’s guilty plea, remorse and the fact that he has no previous convictions for drugs supply.

But he also told him that North Wales’s flagship music event was not to be tainted with a reputation for drugs. Judge Parry added: “Parents must know when they allow their children to go to such festivals that they will be safe.”

The court heard how Pollard at first said the drugs were for himself but the jury heard expert opinion that 170 tablets would be an “unprecedented amount” for one person.

Pollard, who was unemployed when he was arrested, has since fully accepted his actions.
