Date published: 23 July 2010

TASTY treats . . . the boys’ menu lost out to the girls’ winning dish, chicken wrap in bacon with rice.
FOOD glorious food . . . budding chefs at Hathershaw College of Technology and Sport tested their culinary skills in a true battle of the sexes.
It was boys versus girls as Year 10 pupils concocted a tasty menu to win over the judges and claim first prize.
The boys cooked up spicy prawn dip followed by chicken curry and apple fool, while the girls made Chinese noodles, chicken wrap in bacon with rice and delightful sundae.
Parents were given the tough task of tasting each dish with a little help from Roughyeds star Mick Fogerty, who was guest judge for the day.
It was a close call but girl power won the day and the team of budding Delias took top spot.
