Their request to play ACDC’s “Hells Bells” in church may have been turned down, but that didn’t stop primary school youngsters from St Anne’s, Lydgate, from tearing it up at their leavers’ assembly.
After six sessions with local guitar-playing teenager, Andrew Bergin, rock band rookies Class Act took to the stage at St Anne’s Church for a rousing performance of “Your Love Keeps Lifting Me Higher” and “You Really Got Me” by The Kinks.
Susanne Bergin, school business manager, said: “They absolutely went for it and really pulled it off.
“All the children were cheering and screaming.”
The school is now trying to get a tutor from Oldham Music Centre to carry on the lessons and make room for rock in the weekly timetable.
