FUND-RAISING efforts brought more than a touch of artistic flair to Springhead Community Centre as budding artists united to raise funds for the British Polio Fellowship.

They gathered to display work, have a go at painting still life and take part in a raffle.

Organiser Gill Lees, of Huddersfield Road, Austerlands, caught the disease in 1956 when she was 11.

She said: “The workshop was great and, along with a tapas evening I organised, we managed to raise over £700.”
