Random assault ordeal
Date published: 26 July 2010
POLICE are appealing for information after a reveller suffered a broken jaw following a random attack during a night out in Lees.
The 23-year-old victim left Danielle’s bar in High Street to meet some friends. He then saw five men arguing near a bottle bank. As he walked past, one of the gang thumped him in the jaw.
He remembers little else after the blow, but needed hospital treatment. His jaw was broken on both sides and he had to have his mouth wired up.
He does not remember what the thug looked like but does recall that he appeared to stand separately to the other men.
Devastating
Detective Constable Mirza Anwar said: “This was an entirely random, unprovoked attack.
“While he may not remember much, anyone who recalls seeing a number of men gathered by a bottle bank in Lees that night should come forward.”
The incident happened at 1am on Saturday, July 10.
Anyone with information should call police on 0161-856 8955 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
