A SHAW primary school has won a national award for the way it teaches children to read.
Rushcroft Primary School was one of only 32 out of 19,000 primary schools across the country who were selected for the award.
It was presented in London by the Every Child A Chance Trust charity which was set up in 2007 and is backed by the Government and leading businesses and charities.
The Trent Road school has 200 pupils aged between 4 and 11 and was singled out for the award for the effective work of its teaching assistants to help children to read.
The school staff were presented with the award at London Zoo.
