THE search is on for the borough’s unsung heroes as part of a new awards scheme from Oldham Council.
The TOP (Trust Oldham People) Awards 2010 will recognise those who go the extra mile in their work for Oldham Council, First Choice Homes, Oldham Community Leisure, The Unity Partnership, Positive Steps and in Oldham schools.
The awards’ categories are community service, customer service, employee of the year, green awards, leader of the year, outstanding contribution, team of the year, working together for Oldham and young employee of the year.
Voting is open to members of the public and the deadline is August 10. Prizes will be handed out during a special awards ceremony at the Queen Elizabeth Hall on October 15.
Councillor Mohammed Masud said: “There are a lot of unsung heroes out there who go out of their way and the TOP Awards are a great way to make sure they get the recognition they deserve.”
Nomination forms are available online from www.oldham.gov.uk/top-awards or at libraries and the civic centre.
Alternatively, call the TOP team on 0161-770 3083.
The TOP Awards were previously known as the STAR Awards.
