MAKING Oldham proud . . . the Mayor, Councillor David Jones, with William White (left) and Ithsham Al Hassan
THE Mayor of Oldham took time out from his civic duties to see how young people are transforming their lives.
Councillor David Jones visited Oldham Boxing and Personal Development Centre in Derker which targets those prone to anti-social behaviour and youth offending.
The Mayor spoke to young members who told him about the Boxing is NEET (Not in Employment, Education or Training) programme.
The programme is run in partnership with Oldham College, Oldham Lifelong Learning and other training providers who offer participants the chance to complete courses that can help them build a better future.
Courses running at the centre include introduction to sports massage, introduction to signing and the SIA security supervisor course.
For more information, contact the centre by emailing them at info@oldhamboxing.co.uk or call 0161-621 6869.
