Funding plea for guide dogs

Absolutely adorable . . . £10 a day to train and keep to help blind people.
Guide-dog volunteers in Oldham are hoping that this cute little labrador pup will melt hearts and spur the public to give vital fund-raising a boost.
The Guide Dogs for the Blind Association is calling for volunteers to host activities from street collections to cream teas to help provide support for the donation-dependent service.
District fund-raiser Diane Moore, said: “It costs £10 a day to breed, train and support each of the 4,600 guide dog partnerships in the UK and as the charity receives no Government or statutory funding we rely entirely on the generosity of the public.
“We are interested in hearing from anyone, regardless of how little time you have to give.”
The adorable dogs spend their first year living with a family before being put through 12-16 weeks of intensive training.
