Local team members beam with pride as the Mayor of Oldham, Councillor David Jones, presents them with their Prince’s Trust team awards

Hard-working teenagers from across the borough were joined by the Mayor of Oldham to celebrate completing the Groundwork Prince’s Trust Team programme.

The emotional presentation was the culmination of 12 weeks of graft that resulted in the group of 16 completing an impressive community project at Treelands Residential Home in Fitton Hill. Helping to improve the grounds around the home and make it safer for the residents, the young adults also undertook two-week work placements and had CV and interview training.

The Mayor, Councillor David Jones, looked on as family, friends and mentors beamed with pride as the youngsters were presented with their certificates.

Prince’s Trust team member, Samantha Hufton (22), from Chadderton, said: “I’ve enjoyed being part of the team.

“We’ve all worked hard and gained so much in a short space of time. My favourite part was the residential because we got to know each other, started working as a team and had a go at extreme caving!”
