PRODUCTION could be stepped up at Warburtons in Shaw after a massive blaze at the firm’s bakery in Bolton.
Around 300 employees were evacuated yesterday when a fire started in an oven shortly before 3pm. Smoke could be seen for several miles as 60 firefighters were called to the site in Hereford Street. There were no reports of any injuries.
Andrea Law, from Warburtons, said: “As soon as it happened we put calls into our other 13 bakeries to ask them not to stop production at any time.”
