A Fitton Hill dental practice is expanding to give around 1,000 extra people NHS care.

The Ravat and Ray Dental Care in Fitton Hill is taking on a new dentist and anyone interested in signing up — or finding out about other practices in Oldham which are taking on new NHS patients — can phone NHS Oldham’s dental line on 0161 622 6508.

The Deanshut Road practice opened 14 months ago and offers a wide variety of NHS dental services, including oral health promotion.

It is accessible for disabled people and has appointment slots earlier in the morning and later in the evening for people who work or have children in school.

Shauna Dixon, director of clinical services at NHS Oldham, said: “We are constantly working hard with dentists to make sure people can get NHS dental care.

“I’m delighted that the appointment of this new dentist means so many extra people can get NHS dental care in Oldham.”

Since 2006, five new practices have opened across Oldham, with most incorporating more than one surgery and an additional practice is planned for the Saddleworth area.

Over the last three years extra funding has also allowed 10 existing practices to expand and improve their services, including offering longer opening hours.
